It's... weird.

If you look, it's scaling the image vertically, but not horizontally.

You can see this by looking at the bottom/top sides of the bench or LCD. If you look at the sides, though, you can see heavy stair-stepping (image being scaled vertically).

This makes it seem like it's being rendered internally at a lower vertical resolution and then scaled to fit the screen.

I tried installing the FEAR1 sdk to try and open the Arch01 files but it needs FEAR1 installed which I dont have..
Rumor has it FEAR 1 file tools like Arche Noah or MultiEx would work better than the SDK anyway... Did you try these ?

I can't get the full version working.

These are from the demo fix Racer sent to me ...

Motion blur and HDR off ...

Motion blur and HDR on ...

The whole HUD is on the left in Racer's shot ... for me using the fix for the demo I start the game and then atl-tab to start the fix whilst on the main menu puts it on the centre screen.

a little update...

I've found some config settings..

C:Documents and Settings[user]My DocumentsWBGamesFEAR2settings.cfg

You can add these lines:

run the game windowed:
"Windowed" "1.000000"

change the aspect ratio, but letterboxing still there:
"FovAspectRatioScale" "1.000000"

changes the FOV:
"FovY" "90.00000"

does nothing?
"UseWideScreen" "1.000000"

i was trying these, have no effect?
"LetterBoxPercent" "2.000000"
"LetterBoxDisabled" "1.000000"
"LetterBox" "0.000000"

i'm looking through the strings in gameclient.dll to find a possible setting to get rid of the letterboxing

Well those pictures that Paddy posted do show significant improvement over the regular screens. I've still got hope for this one.

Next weeks patch could change all this ...
From the patch notes ...

-Implemented a toggle for switching between widescreen (16:9) and full screen (4:3) in the Options|Performance|Advanced Settings menu
