so i received my u3011 today, hooked it up, went into nvidia control panel to enable surround only to see an error message telling me that the 3007 needs to be replaced with another display for surround. all three monitors have the same resolution and refresh rate, so i figured it had to be the sync polarity. sure enough, after looking at the detailed specs for all 3 monitors this is what i found for their sync polarities: 3007: -/+ 3008: +/- 3011: +/- what exactly is sync polarity and can i change it on my 3007 to be the same as the other two? |

I'm not sure about changing it. That would require a firmware update. But i'm really not sure if that's something physical or not. BTW, if you don't mind me asking, how do those panels match with each other (I have 3 3007wfp-hc's and am looking for 2 more) |

I'm not sure about changing it. That would require a firmware update. But i'm really not sure if that's something physical or not. the 3007 and 3011 go together fine as their bezel thickness is almost the same. the 3008 bezel however is noticeably thicker than the 3007/3011. |

FWIW, I'm using a 3007 HC with a 3008 on each side and have no problems with Eyefinity. Another thing: After calibration the 3007 HC matches the 3008 reasonably well, maybe a bit warmer/yellowish (could be the ageing) and less sharp (could be the coating). I was thinking of upgrading the 3007 HC to a 3011 now that they have come down in price, do you see any difference between them? |

FWIW, I'm using a 3007 HC with a 3008 on each side and have no problems with Eyefinity. AFAIK, eyefinity doesn't require that all the monitors have the same sync polarity which is probably why you have no problems. as far as 3007 vs 3011 goes, it does seem like the colors are more vibrant on the 3011 but then maybe it's just because my 3007 is kind of old. |

EyeFinity has no issues with sync polarities, correct. And there's no way of changing it. :( |

in case anyone else has this problem, i was able to get these working in surround. i created a custom inf based off one of the monitors and then used that for all three. |

Would you share the .inf? here it is. keep in mind, this is specific to these dell monitors only. basically what i did was open up phoenix then load up the dell 3008wfp EDID from registry. i then edited it and removed all the display modes except 2560x1600 keeping the sync polarity as is for that mode. saved the modified EDID as a .dat file which i opened in MonInfo and finally saved it as an inf. finally, i went into device manager, uninstalled all 3 monitors (checked the option to delete their drivers) and reinstalled all 3 monitors using the below inf. once i rebooted and went into nvidia control panel i was able to enable surround. i *think* this worked for me because the 3007 and 3011 were able to be run at the same sync polarity as the 3008 in 2560x1600, even though they don't normally use the same polarity at that mode. It's a ray of hope for non Sync-Polarity-Identical monitors in Surround, though, which is awesome. :D |
