250$ after a 50$ rebate?! A year ago 400$ was considered a good deal for a monitor of that size! So tempted to get 3 for matching config and finally some god damn bezel comp!

Here comes the stupid question.
Whats so amazing about this monitor?
$250 for a 24" doesnt sound anywhere amazing to me. Its obviously not for gaming so this must be a graphic designers dream monitor or something.
I guess the guys who is excited to see this deal also paid a pretty penny for the Nvidia Quadro in his rig?!?

IPS panels offer the best color reproduction and the best viewing angles. They are highly desirable for Eyefinity, as your outside panels sit at a sharp angle to the viewer, and TN panel color shift much more easily. They are basically required for any portrait configuration as the pixels in a TN panel are "oriented" for landscape and the shifting happens very quickly.

I think these IPS panels are not the same "quality" that they were, for example there are a lot of e-IPS panels now, not that these are "bad" just not as upmarket as the days gone by 20WGX2 for example.

The key is it's HP. HP is killing most of their non-printer side of the business. Don't expect future warranty work on HP computer products when purchasing.

This is patently untrue. HP is not "kiling most of their non-printer side of the business". They are spinning off the PC-side into a separate company. All warranties will be honored.

I'm seeing 340$ for the Dell. Though that is alot cheaper than last year. I dont think I've seen such a huge yearly drop before.

24" not a surprise, you should mention that it's a 16:10 , now that's a surprise. Those things are usually way more expensive compared to 16:9 monitors. Plus the HPZRxxW series are really good.
