Hello

I have recently purchased my second GIgabyte 560Ti OC GPU and running in SLI config. My system specs are

XFX 780i SLI
Intel Q6600 OC to 3.54 GHz
2xGigabyte 560Ti OC SLI
2x2GB OCZ Reaper
2x2GB Corsair XMS2
Antec Quattro 1000W
OCZ Vertex 2

Now I am looking for a surround gaming setup, and currently own the Asus Ve247h 24 inch LED monitor, which is pretty good when it comes to gaming, but 3D is the thing now. I am weighing the options, and here is what I need help with.

Option 1
2 Asus Ve247h monitors at the sides, and the (either Acer GD235HZ or the Asus VG236H) in the middle as the 3D monitor

Option 2
3 Asus Ve247h monitors in 2d Surround

Option 3
Two Asus Ve247h monitors at sides, and the Acer Hn274h 27 inch LED 3D monitor in the middle

Option 4 (my personal best, but too expensive)
Two (either Acer GD235HZ or the Asus VG236H) monitors at the sides, and one Acer Hn274h in the middle as the 3D surround

Option 5
3 (either Acer GD235HZ or the Asus VG236H) monitors in true 3D surround gaming.

I understand that the 27 inch display would look out of place, but I am willing to take the chance, as the Hn274h would allow me to use 3D on my PS3 and Xbox that are sitting right besides my monitor. Also, I am trying to play the games at playable fps at 3D settings in their respected case, over three monitors, so maxing out would not be important. If a huge bottleneck is ought to occur with these specs, I will be upgrading to the i5 2500 or 2500k soon. I want to stick with my current rig, and buy these monitors. The price for the hn274h is about $700 in my area, whereas the GD235Hz are about $330 a piece, and the Asus Ve247h is just $150. Looking forward to some advice if options where only one 3D and other two monitors as 2D is supported.

Thanks in advance, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
badboyzasr

Option 5 is the way to go badboy, you will need three identical 3D monitors to run 3D Surround.

Thank you Thales, that was exactly the information I was looking for, so even three of the same monitors are taken and setup, any information if there woul be a huge bottleneck and if 2gb of VRAM would not suffice the highest resolutions?

Thanks in advance

I'd be worried with 3x3D monitors if 2x560's would have enough legs to do the job, VRAM or not. 3D usually cuts whatever you 2D framerate was in half. See benchmarks far GTX480s here:

Note that in SLI/Crossfire VRAM is mirrored between cards. Hence 2x1GB=1GB and not 2GB.

2Gb VRAM will be fine, my rig has only 1.5Gb and its ok, the oc quad core should be ok too, ive run an oc Qx9650 (4Ghz) + 3-way SLI in 3D Surround for sometime and it was ok, you can test it and if necessary upgrade later to a newer CPU.
Edit: Concerning Skipka's post, im considering you have 2Gb versions of the GTX 560.

Thank you, that just ends this discussion, as I currently have the 1 GB version, and forgot about the cloning of video rams in SLI. I was getting a reference from a review done on SLI 560Ti Asus Direct CU Top cards, with 1 GB ram, and they did perfect on 5760x1080 resolution with gamer settings, but I appreciate your help, and that does help choosing my surround system, its either 2D surround or one Hn274h monitor.

Thank you
