I just got a new GTX 680, and I successfully have a tv and 2 23" monitors connected to it using Surround. The problem is, I do not want it to stretch across all 3 screens. In fact I want the more traditional of 3 separate screens. I just want to run games on my main monitor, with website/whatever on the other 23" monitor, and my TV connected, but usually powered off.

I've searched around the forums, and it seems I have to have 4 monitors to keep my TV largely ignored (accessory display). I'm not actually opposed to this solution, as I have a Surround setup at work, and it is pretty amazing for games. So I have a few questions:

1) Is there anyway to have 3 displays all considered separate from each other. This means gaming on only one monitor.

2) If I get a 4th display do I have to hook up my TV (accessory display) with Display Port? I need to have Audio go out to my TV as well as video.

3) Let's say I go with the triple wide displays + my TV as an accessory display. Can I switch between the two "monitors" as my primary display? I ask because Steam Big Picture requires to run on the primary display (which I want to be my TV).

Thanks in advance.

Update:

1) Yes. Turn off surround in the nvidia control panel. Then go to the windows' screen resolution screen. Sometimes all three monitors won't be displayed (mine weren't). If you hit detect, it will find all 3. Voila.

2) No. I have my "accessory display" connected through hdmi. I haven't tested audio through it, and won't be able to until christmas.

3) Steam Big Picture mode works beautifully with this. Seamlessly changes between the Triple wide "monitor" and the single 1920x1080 TV.

All good!
