http://tinypic.com/r/1znwhhi/6 is what im working with ATM , its a new HP with the 750gig harddrive, amd quadcore processor, im working on ordering a 2nd monitor right now since its tax return season :)) can i upgrade my video card easily? if so which brand is most recomended i know there are so many out there im lookin for the best bang for my buck thanks for the help. |

What's your budget, technical skill and motherboard model? Seeing as you motherboard appears on-board 9300gr for graphics, I'm assukgin it's new enough to tak some pretty beefy CPUs. Of course, depending on how much you upgrade, you may end up needing a new PSU (power supply) as well... |

i honestly dont know what motherboard is in this ive never had it taken apart yet to check it out its about ayear old and iim already ordering a 2nd 24" monitor my video card will support a 2nd but ive been thinking about upgrading it and id like to get a different tower as well im not sure if these guts will bolt right into a new tower? |

The HP site will have all the info. Just enter the model number (probably on the side of the case and definitely in the first dxdiag.exe section). Or you can remove the side panel and the model number and name will be stamped in relatively large letter on your motherboard, Usually close to the center. I'm guessing it has a PCU-E slot you can slap a video card into. The price range is about $30 to almost $1000. Low and mid-range video cards will likely not need a stronger PSu than you have, and woudl surely be stronger than your 9300GE. Oh you can also find hardware info with a program like Lavasofts' "Everest", and others. Maybe someone else can suggest a program... Of course you could always take it in to a reputable computer store and have them suggest something. |

Ya, that card will fit. And that monitor is s fine choice, but it only has HDMI and VGA. The video card has two DVI ports (an one svideo), and it comes with ONE DVI-VGA adapter - so you may need another, depending on what inputs your current monitor has. That video card also has a 400-watt PSU requirement. The HP site doesn't list that particular spec, but it should be printed on a label on the side of your PSU. But after a quick look, i think it has a 400 watt. If you need any adapters, monoprice.com has insanely good prices. Oh, just a note for your title; "CPU" actually refers to your actual processor that's on the motherboard, and not the whole case. However, if you DO want to upgrade the CPU in the future, that motherboard can take quad-cores. heh, you may want to measure the space between the back of your case and the hard drive cage to make sure the card will fit :) some of those HP's are pretty small... |

this already is a quadcore, and it is the bigger case not the really small ones, and i already have a coouple vga cables layin around here somewhere haha, i will go ahead and see how much space there is even though im sure it will fit how about getting a new case? will these guts just bolt right into another one? PS sorry for the double post it took a while for them to get approved and maybe thought i didnt do it right so i tried again ha |
