of 120 instead of 60? Will it matter in games? Will it stop texture tearing? :?

For the most part it helps to smooth out graphics, as long, of course, as you can get 120fps.

Although some monitors can only do 60Hz input, but have a 120Hz panel, the monitor basically does all the smoothing (doubling of each frame) in the panel it's self. It makes gameplay smooth and still only has the 60FPS requirement.

Also if you have a REAL 120Hz monitor, you can do nVidia 3D stuff (surround if you have 3).
