I have a dell inspiron 1525 that I got from some on to fix and keep. It won’t turn on. When I checked the power switch it has brown coffee stain on the bottom. I can turn it on if I short the bottom of the connector it will turn on at random. I ordered a new daughter board and I am going to see if that fixes it. Hope fully this is the only reason it won’t turn on. I ran a diagnostic everything else checks out fine. So do you think this will fix it.

from an IT background. My experience says. Its ruined. Normally when liquids get into a laptop its done. Espically cheap models without the spill-proof keyboards. (like that of the T60's series)

Yep. Particularly if the coffee had cream or sugar. If clean water was spilt and the battery was removed right away, you'd have a fair chance of recovery, but anything else, and your chances are very slim. Clean what you can and let it all dry, then slap it back together.

It's a hard lesson.

I put the power switch in it worked. Then I plugged the keyboard in it was fine. Until the mouse then I saw smoke the ribbon cable had burned up in between the mouse pad and the computer. Shorting out both the mouse and the keyboard. The computer runs fine except for that.
