Hello ther
I wish to boost my preformance with Eyefinity and I was wondering which would be the best option...
I currently have a HD5970 running 3 x Samsung SyncMaster B2030's.
I would like to know what will give me the best preformance upgrade in eyefinity:
Purchasing another HD5970 and running them in quad fire?
Purchasing a HD5850 and running it in trifire with my HD5970?
Selling my HD5970 and purchasing two HD6950's and crossfiring them?
Or selling my HD5970 and purchasing a HD6990?

Your help is much appreciated

I don't know what your best bet is, but I'd check to make sure your power supply can handle a 4th 5970 (that is a power hungry card!)

No I think you misunderstood:)
I have 1 x HD5970, which is already a crossfire card, so if i purchase another one and run them together i will have 2 crossfires which will equal a quadfire. I don't think 4 x HD5970 is even possible?
I have a 850W PSU which is capable of powering any of my options.

Frankly, you're probably better off selling the 5970 and getting a 6990 or similar twin card setup. Quadfire has been plagued with driver woes for years, and combining Quadfire with EyeFinity appears to be even more of a recipe for disaster and heartache. :(

And what about trifire with another HD5850? I am able to get a HD5850 for R1600 which is much cheaper than a HD6990 but will it give me much of an improvement in Eyefinity?

According to the [H]ardOCP review of the 6990, two 6970s in Crossfire perform better than the 6990 at a much cheaper price. To save even more money you can get two 6950s and do the much-publicized flash upgrade to a 6970. Make sure to get the 2GB versions for Eyefinity to ensure the framebuffer is big enough for surround resolutions.

And how would two HD6950's flashed to HD6970's and run in crossfire compare to my HD5970? Will it be worth the upgrade?

In VRAM terms alone, yes.

So do you recommend that i sell my HD5970 and purchase two HD6950's and flash them to HD6970's and run in crossfire?
Anyone may give their opinion:)
