Upgraded from the HD 5870 to the R9 290X. Didn't have any problems before the 290X.

Now that the 290X is in there, I'm having a multitude of problems. I believe they are software related, but I'm not positive.

Here are the problems I'm having:

Waking the PC up from sleep the PC forgets my Eyefinity group and the only way to get it back is to restart the computer. I always put my PC to sleep so having to restart every single time sucks.

My third monitor, hooked up via HDMI, is black and white. No idea what the deal is there. During a bootup the monitor displays color vibrantly and beautifully until it gets to Windows desktop and any program that's on that particular screen. So I don't think it's the cable or the monitor since it displays great color while booting up until it gets to Windows, etc.

Also, I've noticed a "line", if you will, on my screen when moving window panes. Weird thing is that it doesn't do it consistently. It's just now and then.

I only play one game: Call of Duty: Blank Ops. Whether I play it single screen or three screens my FPS drops hugely once I start moving. Sitting still I'm at exactly 60 FPS. Once I move my cursor, no matter how fast, the FPS drops to below 20 making the game unplayable.

I put my old 5870 back in and it's doing the same thing during gameplay. But it never did it before!! Which leads me to believe it's software-related.

I've updated my motherboard BIOS to latest, but to no avail.

I've uninstalled CCC and reinstalled it, but to no avail.

I really don't know what else to do at this point. The next thing that I know to do is to completely reformat the PC. I haven't reformatted in a couple years, at least, so it's probably due anyway.

So frustrated at this point!!!!! Please help!!!

Which set of drivers did you upgrade from? Which set are you running now?

Sorry, been ill. I had to use guru 3d tool to remove old drivers and reinstall due to some issues and I'll be looking at the presets tonight...

What I did first:
    Straight swap from 5850 to R9 290
    Install latest Catalyst software (update)
Can create presets but they don't save correctly
    Random freezes.

I repeated this but used the Add/Remove program to uninstall the driver and reinstall but still the same problems.

(My) Solution:
    Install Driver uninstaller: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Reboot into Safe Mode (press F8 before Windows splash screen)
Run the driver uninstaller - remove everything AMD related!
    Reboot.
Configured my monitors ungrouped (3 separate monitors, extended desktop)
Added this as a Preset (I named it normal)
    Reboot
    Created and configured Eyefinity group
    Added this as a Preset
    Reboot.

So far it seems to be working well and Skyrim is looking real purdy 8-)
