I'm not a professional photographer nor video editor nor graphic designer. I don't work on complex 3D CAD/CAM either. Besides working with MS Office Suite and 2D CAD software, I just play games (e.g. Crysis 2, Dirt 3 etc), listen to my audio collections, watch 720p HD movies/videos and collecting color wallpapers I downloaded from the internet. So, is getting an IPS panel monitor an overkill?
I was searching for a new 23"/24" full HD monitor to replace my old 19" one. So far the only type of monitor I could find that has a Display Port is IPS. They are slightly more expensive than LED monitors. Most LED monitors favor HDMI but my graphic card has six Mini Display Ports. Buying a Mini DP to HDMI adapter seems to be a hassle. Examples of IPS monitors: Asus PA246Q 24.1”, Dell 24'' U2412M UltraSharp & LG 23" IPS236V.
