Hello everyone!

As you may know, Magicka: Wizard Wars was voluntarily patched in order to prevent people from playing with a panoramic resolution.
(The external monitors will be black.)
That's understandable because Wizard Wars is PvP oriented, so a panoramic resolution would give an unfair advantage compared to other players.

Sadly, Magicka 2, which is a solo/coop game and will be released in ~2 weeks, have the exact same behaviour.
I've made a post about that issue on Paradox's Forums, but nobody seems to care.

How do you guys feel about that?

Honestly, if they go out of their way to prevent someone else from adding support, I'll be greatly disappointed. If they simply removed the existing undesired implementation *shrug*. It sucks that they removed an overall working system (minus the gui) instead of just fixing it.

That is frustrating, although not terribly surprising. The screenshot of Magicka 2 that you posted on the Paradox forum looks like a typical pillar-box rendering solution. It might be fixable via hack, but having developer support is preferable.

I'm also concerned about the movement and control scheme/key binding changes you noted. If it ends up being an inferior experience compared to the original, I'll take a pass.

Thanks guys for your responses

Magicka 2 is indubitably based on the same engine as Wizard Wars.
I bet that the panoramic resolution restriction is still implemented in Magicka 2 because they just forked their first engine.
(I'm saying first engine because Magicka 2 isn't developed by the same guys as Magicka 2)
But then, is it just an oversight or is it voluntary?

I hope It'll be hackable, but I'm a bit worried about it.
It's pretty certain that they disallowed the use of a panoramic resolution in Wizard Wars because of the unfair advantages.
If it's not an oversight in Magicka 2 means it's voluntary. Hacking such a restriction would be kinda dangerous.
One must add that if a hack comes out, there's a pretty good chance that It'll be also compatible with Wizard Wars.
At this point I'm still guessing, but I'm sure both games would be patched rapidly against that kind of tools.

There's a bunch of people complaining about various things on Paradox's forums.
It's nearly impossible that they'll change anything like the way spells work less than two weeks of the release.
On the contrary removing the limit they imposed on panoramic resolution would be doable rapidly.
Nonetheless, I still hope that they'll fix it until (or after?) the release.

Since they're not responding about that issue, I'm afraid that they simply don't care: after all we, panoramic screens/eyefinity/surround users, are only a tiny fraction of their customers.
That's why I'm seriously encouraging anyone concerned about this issue to write something here or on Paradox's forums.
If we want them to do something, we must prove that we're more than three guys.
