Finally resized the shots in my posts for best viewing, so they look as good as TCH's example now. Yay !

I'd love to
- do the same for other people's pics
- sticky this,
any objections ?

Tip for contributors : the forum's auto-resizing feature requires specific values for this to work.
Tall-widescreen comparison : resize shots to 300 width. Even 480 is too much for automatic alignment.
Tall-surround comparison : resize shots to 100 width. No need to resize the tall-surround shot itself, it'll be done automatically. (Yeah, that's small - and maybe surround is a bit OT anyway.)

Ok fans, here are new versions of the 4:3 to 16:10 comparisons posted previously by Apple & schlaufer, thank you guys ! Wherever you are.

Far Cry... not perfect but still quite tallscreen-friendly

And as a festive bonus, here's a totally unimpressive Rise Of Flight:

Stripe on top of the screen constantly flashes in tallscreen.
"Tall" cockpit view is much better, I'll give it a shot in my beloved Fokker DrI someday.

That's all folks - more to come in 2010, 'cos Vert- is sooo alive and kickin' ! 8)

Wow, this is the best thread ever. Love your work man. It's good to see the popularity in tall screen finally getting somewhere.

I have never looked back since I converted my widescreen into a tallscreen. Those wide cheaters don't know what they are missing out on.

More pics please! :cheers

Oh man, how is that last shot? You can see the SUN ROOF! Wwwwooooooooooowwwwwwww! I wonder if it will classed as cheating, seeing you might be able to see a 1 in 1million year metoerite coming down before anyone else does. Still give the advantage I guess.

Sunroof for the win. :rockout

1 16:9 or 16:10 screen turned on its side.. the effect is greater than a landscape increase even on 1 screen,

this is why eyefinity / nfinity will be better in portrait x 3 screens with no bezzel or perhaps even x4 screens.

really imersive ultra high res and not vertically squished !

Good sir most engines these days keep the VERT FOV the same and expand or contract the HOR FOV.
Games in which are VERT- will expand or contract the VERT FOV and Keep the HOR FOV static.

Meaning, in most instances, the games does not squish the VERT FOV when put into Surround Resolutions. VERT Squishing only happens in VERT- Games.

Tall screen is a nice alternative to playing in 4:3 resolutions or Having Vert FOV cut away in these Vert- Games.

Simply put, "portrait surround" is not tallscreen. Take the total aspect ratio, compare it to 10:16 or 9:16, you'll see.

Heh. Already has these screen shots taken for a post I made on the Global Agenda forums, specifically to mock their argument about not implementing Eyefinity / Proper widescreen support due to unfairness. I don't have 4:3 shots because I was comparing 16:10 to 10:16, and since then I've uninstalled the game.
