Hi.

I'm trying to get American McGee's Alice to run in 1680x1050, but the solution to edit the config doesn't work at all for me. As soon as I start the game, all the lines that I added to the config disappears.

The config looks a bit messed up too. Is there some config editor that I'm supposed to use, or am I just incompatible?

Go to Alicebaseconfig.cfg

open it with wordpad and change the Lines too:

seta r_customheight "1050"
seta r_customwidth "1680"

Yes, that's what the detailed report says, but the config does not save what I edit. At all.

First, if it looks "messed up," try using Textpad to open it. Window's default Notepad only recognizes newlines that follow standard formatting, and it's possible that this file uses either non-standard format or Unix-style newlines.

Next, is your *desktop* set to 1680x1050?
Also, is it possible you're mixing up the height and the width? A lot of people do that by accident, especially for games where the config file puts height before the width.

I got it to work yesterday.

I hadn't done anything wrong at all (afaik) but it just wouldn't work.

Now it does work, all except the bind m to fov. That one is a big no-no.

The TextPad tip was great. Very good editor. Tnx alot.

I'm so confused. I loaded this game for my wife (she bought it a long time ago and never played it).

Then I loaded it and noticed it doesn't support widescreen.

We have a 23" monitor 1920 by 1080.

I looked for this config file and I can't find it. My computer is running Vista ultimate 64-bit.

There is no config file in the base directory?

Any ideas?
