I have a pair of 2GB 680's now. I have found I can not run BF3 or a few other games completely maxed and get the frame rates I want. So, I am torn. I work at a computer store so a swap is not a big deal. On the other hand, getting a 3rd 680 may be better? I've done a lot of reading and research. Seems getting two 4GB models will work best but I wanted to ask here before tearing down the system.

Thanks in advance.

i use 3 680 2gig cards with an i7 3960 and i run bf3 at a constant 60fps at 6080x1080 with textures on ultra and everything else on high.
But i do have aa off and use fxaa injector instead. The extra vram would be usefull if i was running at higher aa levels, but even 3 680's cant do that with bf3 without sacrificing the framerate.

From my experience, 3 680's 2gig models is better then 2 680 4gigs.

Interesting. I was expecting to go the other way. So, save a bit more for that extra 680, I guess. Or, hope the 685's come out. lol

Maybe this review of a 4gb model is a interesting read, since tripple monitor resolutions are tested.

Also, adding a third card seems to reduce microstuttering: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-stutter-crossfire,2995-15.html. Although the performance increase over 2 way SLI isn't that great and neither is the drivers support.

Looking at that, I am pretty well bones even with 4GB cards. Very small improvement in performance. MAybe I will hold off till the 685's show up or the 780. Just stick with what I have for now.
