Baseline (Widescreen) Solution & Issues
Native pixel-based support. 16:9 anamorphism is also on by default.
In lower-than-16:9 aspect ratios, disable 'Enforce Widescreen' during missions to remove the black bars and push the HUD toward the top and bottom of the screen.
- menus and loading screens are either letterboxed (Enforced Widescreen on) or vertically stretched (Enforced Widescreen off).
- FMVs remain letterboxed when Enforce Widescreen is off, so the stretching is moderate.
Ultra/Super-Wide (21:9/32:9) Specific Solution & Issues
Native pixel-based support. Disable 'Enforce Widescreen' during missions to remove the pillarboxing and push the HUD toward the egdes of the screen.
With 'Enforce Widescreen' enabled:
- Menus and loading screens are pillarboxed.
- FMVs are windowboxed.
Eyefinity / Surround Specific Solution & Issues
Native support is... problematic.
- disable 'Enforce Widescreen' at the beginning of a mission for Hor+ gameplay. The HUD spans.
- enable 'Enforce Widescreen' before you exit the level to fix menus, loading screens and FMVs.
Another option is to define your own pillarboxing once and for all in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Klei\InvisibleInc\settings\settings.lua
:
Look for the line table [ "aspectConstraint" ] =
and edit the value to your liking (a good starting point is table [ "aspectConstraint" ] = 3
).
This results in part pillarboxed, part Hor+ gameplay; see Additional screenshots.
4k UHD Specific Solution & Issues
Native pixel-based support: max zoom-in is pretty far, HUD is tiny.
