the only reason that works is cause it reduces the fov so that you cant see that shoulder...
Exactly ... it reduces the FOV to what it should be for that aspect ratio as the above math seem to prove.
Thank you Covak ... :D

the fact of the matter is that ubi didnt properly model that part of the shoulder and they didnt want that part of the shoulder visible..
Do you know that for a fact ? ... as I mentioned it just looks like a clipping issue due to the FOV being incorrect for the aspect ratio not that the shoulder wasn't modelled correctly.
This is a third party tool and using it allows you to take the FOV to ridiculous limits if you want to and you do you then get some crazy clipping going on ... that doesn't mean the devs didn't model everything correctly ... of course not ... it just means you took the FOV too far.
Also ... how do you know what they wanted or didn't want ?

its no a clipping issue its an issue with ubisoft being lazy..
The devs were maybe lazy as they didn't do the FOV properly for widescreens in the first place but not because of this.

First post! Unfortunately it's going to make me sound like a bit of a twat but eh, here goes anyway...

Having read through all the posts so far, I've a question that hopefully someone can answer for me...

Having tried all the suggested values for 16:10 but not getting my native res, can anyone please, please, please provide me with what SHOULD be the relevent settings for 1920x1200?

I apologise in advance for my ignorance but I'm somewhat new to the whole widescreen gaming malarky!

Regards,
Reugne

Hello and welcome to the forum ... :D

These should do it for you ...
They are (it seems) best for 16:10 ...

X FOV: 1.2
Y FOV: 1.333

but I'm not sure what you mean by this bit ...
but not getting my native res,

Ah... Ok... you're right, it works, thank you! The reference to native res was that with the original settings I was working with, posted earlier in the thread, for some reason kept shunting my actual game res down a notch or two from 1920 to 1650 for some obscure reason. These settings work though, which I should have tried really before my post but was feeling somewhat pessimistic;)

Thanks again!

I'm running a 22" at 1680x1050

The settings said above work perfectly.

X FOV: 1.2
Y FOV: 1.333

Big ups to Racer_S, for being such a great programmer and for being such a sharing provider of solutions. Thanks man.

Hello,

Just wanted to give big thanks to Racer_S for taking the time to make this workaround.

One little request, though. I'm left handed and use the keypad for all my movement and actions buttons which makes using the hack a little awkward.

Is there any way you could possibly allow these keys to be reconfigurable or even just quickly slap together a v4.01 with the keys bound to the left hand side of the keyboard for all us lefties? :)

Again, many thanks!

If you REALLY REALLY want to thank him then there is a link on the left side of this site for you to donate toward getting him an actual widescreen setup.
