So, is anyone doing this? I ordered myself 4 pairs of anaglyph glasses. I'm loving the Pro-Ana glasses I picked up off Amazon. Not only are they some of the higher quality glasses available, they also look like Stylish U2 glasses with that retro 80s effect to them. Totally wearable in public. :D

Pro-tip: You can get 3 pairs of decent glasses with the Hannah Montana package off Amazon. Not even kidding. I don't think it says "Hannah Montana" anywhere on the packaging or glasses, though.

Anyway, in terms of extensive usage, my friend and I just beat Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time on a 5.6 aspect ratio with depth perception. I simply can't imagine anything more awesome. Crysis is also badass with dual pistols and laser sights. :))))

I'm using the IZ3D drivers for this with the Optimized Red/Cyan option. It takes a little tweaking and the wizard message is annoying, but it's pretty slick once you tweak it right.

Some cons!
There are two types of glasses I'm familiar with. These acrylic kind and the gel kind that used to come with comics. You know, the paper ones! The gel kind block out more light but minimize the "ghosting effect" that you'll see with LCDs and likely other types. These Pro-Ana acrylic ones had the best reviews I could find and gets really close to filtering exactly what it needs to. I don't think OLED would suffer from this, though. Anyway, the ghosting is caused by color leaking in from the image into the wrong eye. It causes artifacts such as the appearance of incomprehensible or off-color objects in space. Colors are also less vibrant. But in a way they make things feel like they go through a mild sepia filter, so playing through LoZ looked almost like a holographic polaroid. Pretty wicked. Not sure if it's that bad of a con and the drop in color is definitely worth the depth. This seems to work with most DirectX stuff but I've had trouble with the unofficial Deus Ex DirectX10 update.

So, has anyone else tried these? And if so could please share your experiences or possibly recommend certain games to try it with? The reason this solution is so nice is that it works with old-fashioned 60 Hz monitors. :) Also, I'm posting in here because I've been doing this only with Eyefinity so I'd like to keep the topic on track for surround-gaming with depth.

Warning! Don't wear these things while driving! Green and blue lights will show up in one eye and red lights in the other. Think about how hard that would be.

Anaglyph 3D and games don't mix for me... Wear glasses to play games in grey with a mild (at best) illusion of relief ? No thanks.
I've only tested Trackmania (Surround) and King's Bounty (widescreen), but I didn't like it at all. And yet, I love to watch anaglyph maps & QTVR pictures... 3D is best served still, imho.

I honestly haven't had much trouble with the color loss. It's pretty minimal from my experiences. The only thing I'm still not used to (aside from ghosting, but no one gets over that) is having the lens of my eyes focus at a constant distance while the illusion of depth is present. Though, it does make all of the 3D is a little easier to see since you can let in far more accurately focused light.

I like 3D and Surround, I've been playing with it for a while, kills framerate on a 4870 though. The only thing i don't like is the color loss, but it's nice to play games like gears, and unreal with it, as those don't really have any real color to them anyway. The effect does bring in a lot of immersion for me.

Yeah, it seems to be pretty hit or miss. Most RPGs don't gain anything from it but Crysis was something different. Walking through all that dense jungle with the laser sights coming out of my pistols? Headshot headshot headshot. :)
