Okay I bought a Dell 3007, it's only got a DVI port. I've got a 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition with not a single DVI port. I plan to use it as a LAN monitor, and to view movies and things on it, also it's going to be the photoshop monitor.

I've got it over single link, so the most I can run is 1280x800 on this panel. This is due to there being a lack of a scaler chip (I wish I known that before putting down my money, but I probably would have done it anyway).

My question is simple. Should I buy an ACTIVE DP-DVI adapter that may have blanking issues or another video card to run the display?

Adapter:
Benefits: I can use the Power of my 5870, only $100.
Disadvantages: Monitor Blanking, Requires the use of more adapters, no more room for expansion without buying another card.

New Video Card:
Benefits: No Blanking Guaranteed, have another card to power more displays, could do physX if I go nVidia, could be cheaper if I go that route.
Disadvantages: More heat in a hot room, I'll want a hefty card for gaming so cost may go up higher than I want.

What do you guys think? People with 5000 series cards and using adapters, what are your experiences with the adapters?

As it appears you need to invest in either an adaptor or gfx card, both talking at least $100 as you say.
Just to throw another idea into the mix, would you perhaps consider selling the monitor for another but with DP input?
You could still use the 5870E6 and of cause no flickering.
What is the highest resolution an active DP to DVI adaptor can support?

So far I've seen people use them up to 2560x1600 (as the TH2Go is capped at 3840x1024 on the 5000 series). I could trade up to a Dell 3008, which would double as a TV for me. But I got a really good deal on this panel ($400 with absolutely nothing wrong with it).

Use another card. The 3007 is a very good screen with low input lag, due to the fact it has no scaler.
