I have a 5970 with two monitors currently both utilizing DVI ports in my 5970. To go eyefinity I realize I will have to go mini display port. However I have been trying to read up on what it is I need to do this and it is all a bit cloudy to me. I do realize I need a converter because my monitors do now have mini DP. I have compiled a method I think will work I just need it to be confirmed.

These are the monitors that I have

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116440

I have three of these monitors, now if I am correct seeing as these monitors are under 1920 x 1200 I am able to use a single link mini display to dvi converter active which I have posted a link to below

http://accellcables.com/products/DisplayPort/DP/mdp_dvi_sl_active.htm

Will this work? My monitors are all three the same model and their resolutions are all 1920 x 1080.

Any information would be of great help.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes that should work. Here is a similar MDP active adapter:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815309008
good for ???? x 1080 or under resolutions

If for some reason that dont work you may need something like this.
http://us.startech.com/product/MDP2DVID-Mini-DisplayPort-to-DVI-Dual-Link-Active-Adapter–USB-Powered?
good for ???? x 1200 resolutions

Actually, SL-DVI can generally go up to 1920x1200 and still have some bandwidth to spare. It can even do 2048x1152.

You only need DL-DVI if you are planning to run 2560x1440 or higher.

Probably depends upon if you bring 120hz 3D into the equation or not. Not sure if single-link 120hz 1920x1080 is possible or not. My guess this is why we see a bunch of 720p DLP 3D ready projectors on the market but no 1080p ones yet.

I'm using these on my EyeFintiy 6 card and my 1920x1200 Samsung 245BW's: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815309008

All those adapters are the same OEM (Bizlink). They just slap different manufacturer labels on them. That Accell one is the same as the Powercolor. What is confusing though is the video cards ship with two passive DP single-link adapters that look almost the same. Check the bottom of the adapter for the DP logo. The active one will say DP Active, while the passive will just show the DP logo. Make sure not to mix then up.

120hz 1920x1080 is NOT POSSIBLE under single link. You run out of bandwidth way before.

1920x1080 @ 120Hz equals = 3840x1080 @ 60Hz (or 2 x 1080p) in terms of bandwidth. Hence the reason why 3D at 120Hz works.
