im having random headaches with getting my 3rd monitor to work and getting eyefinity to work. i had my 3rd monitor to work a couple of times with extended desktop and then when i try to run 3 in 1, i cannot run full resolution. i am running 3 20" asus monitors with max display of 1600x900 each. they are all the same monitors. i am running 2 DVI ports and one Displayport to DVI adapter on a Gigabyte Radeon HD6850. i also have catalyst 11.2 dated in february 2011. i have been doing searches on google and read as much as i can on this forum but i just cant solve my 2 problems.
1. i cannot get my 3rd monitor to run. it is the displayport plug monitor. it has come on a couple of times when it boots up and thats about it. i got it to work a couple of times and when i mess with CCC settings, it would disable and stop working. i cant even get it back to extended desktop. it wont power up at all. i am using the HIS displayport to single link-DVI adapter and it says it works for eyefinity. i bought it from newegg. it says on the box it has a built-in USB to self power so it is an active adapter. i dont think my adapter is messed up seeing i did get it to work a few times. when i do plug the monitor in, all i see is my wallpaper and mouse and nothing else on my desktop. i can right click and get to my display properties and disable the monitor to get my other 2 functioning correctly.
2. when i got my 3rd monitor to work, my eyefinity resolution cannot max out. im trying to duplicate some of my issues but its not working out too well. i do have a 550 watt power supply. is that enough to push all of this? im running an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor with 4 gigs of memory.
i hope i put enough information to get all this sorted out. i really hope someone can help me. im really losing my mind over getting this to work.
