Just a heads-up that AMD STILL has 5x1P ability detection broken in 11.1-11.4 so far. Only 10.12a properly detects 5x1P. I use the 11.4 CCC with the 10.12a driver because I prefer the new control panel layout. When is AMD going to address this bug? I've filed the bug several times with no apparent fix for 4 months now.

Anyone else 5x1P out there that has ever got 5x1P detection on a truly fresh driver install on anything other than 10.12a? I've gotten other version to detect it but that's because of dirty installs of newer driver over old. That's lead to some bad problems. I'd just like to see this work without having to jump through so many hoops for once.

So your saying that the only drivers that have 5x1 portrait mode ready to go is 10.12? I am so glad I did not go with a 6990 yet. Had it ordered and cancelled it. I would be really pissed if all the new drivers would not let me play in 5x1.

I have my 5 monitors ready to go as I got the other 2 matching dell native dp monitors on a great sale. I play in 3x1p as I like it better than landscape mode. I just use the outside 2 in extended mode hooked up to my 250gts that I use for physx.

I just think I am going to wait for the 28nm chips to come out in the fall/winter/spring of 2012 as I don't game as much in the summer. and the 6990 is not THAT big of improvement over my 5970 if I run the 5970 at 875/1200. I game at 3150x1680 and if I dont go over 2x aa I am fine with my 5970.
My plan is to get the 7990 or whatever they call the next gen 28nm dual gpu card and then go 5x1p. That card should then run it fine.

I really hope they get some 5x1p drivers out to you guys as it would really suck to go thru the expense and have the 5x1p not supported.

Well Linus over at NCIX got 5x1 working on a 6990.

I'm assuming it's the drivers that came with the 6990 (the one's ibrin used).

That's a bit vague. 11.2, 11.3? Maybe my problem is speicifc to the 5870 E6?

I doubt it, I haven't done 5x1 eyefinity yet, but the fact that it works under one driver means it's not hardware related...
Well that's to say maybe they did a lock out (why would they do this?) on any hardware older than the 6000 series.

I went back to 3x1L for now and latest 11.4 preview. Until they fix 5x1P I'm going to stick with 3x1L I guess. It makes for two less 24" on my desktop, so it's not as crowded at least.

B, are you still locked out from enabling 5x1? With my Antilles serving the primary display-out role and flanked by a pair of 6970s, i was blessed by an immediate & succesfull discovery for each of my 5 NEC ea231wmi displayport native array, (@ outset of the process, i was shamefully nervous, I might add, as my only AMD driver headaches have stemmed from eyefinity - though as recently as a year ago, nothing recent). I know of no exclusivity privilege locking out physically/mechanically capable Radeon cousins, man, so I'm praying you retired this issue since your last post.. I seem to recall a solitary E6 user's report that reflected my own, and were the requisites of implementation lower for 5x1P I'm confident we'd see oodles more of such testimony. If you resolved this, please let me know as I'm very curioud. Irregardless, its not anarbitrary crippling of the card, as is oft feared, but a connectivity/driver error..still, it sucks, so here's to hoping its resolved!

At this point I'm grasping at straws to explain it. Maybe it has something to do with the Samsung 245BW's?
