I understand this is asked in nearly every second post but there's just TOO MUCH, no one seems to have a clear direct answer so i'm a little unsure as to which direction I should take. My card as it stands is so old its too embarrassing to even name it, so obviously the upgrade is needed.

What i've concluded is that I pretty much HAVE to fork out the extra money for a DP compatible monitor, and an Asus 7970 DirectCU, and connect all 3 via DP. But as i tried to leave that as my final solution, i read about the flex cards with two DVI + the active adapter which is supposedly 'eyefinity ready' out of the box, if its labelled and marketed as this does it actually have no screen tearing or is it the same problem as the rest?

Is there a cheaper alternative to buying the DP monitors, they seem to be really hard to find and a fair percent more expensive than DVI/HDMI monitors...Spare cash is hard to come by for me, I really don't want to fork out this kind of money just to have a bad tearing effect.

Thanks for any help :)

I am using the latest 12.6 Beta with a reference sapphire 7970 and this drive has fixed the tearing for me. I am using mini DP to DP for 2 displays and DVI for the third. I hope this helps.

That does help a lot, actually! I only just read about the 12.6 driver fix after posting this, as i'm currently using a Nvidia card i haven't really kept up to date with the AMD drivers.

Well now I think i might lean toward the Sapphire 7970 if i can mix and match outputs, will definitely save some money from the directcu plus I won't have to fork out money for adapters too. It was the Sapphire that came with all required adapters in the box, right?

Thanks for the reply, Big :)

Yes the one I have came with a bunch of different adapters. Mine is a reference card. I am not sure about the other versions.

12.4 and 12.6a fixed the tearing for me, as well.

2x DVI and one mini-DP-DP
