Hi all, new here, this place looks kewl.

I have a quick couple of questions. I will be buying a new system soon, and would like some input on my screen selections and GPU.

Im looking to get a 27" Dell UltraSharp U2711 as a central monitor and then a couple 19" monitors in portrait mode on either side of the 27" in landscape mode. I want the 27" Dell for the photoshop art that I do (actual digital painting) and I like the IPS. For the side monitors, IPS or 1.07 Billion colors are that big of a deal. Mostly I want them for extra workspace for everything else I do, as well as for some gaming.

I'm looking to get the EVGA GTX 670 2gb GPU...could that card run all three monitors at 4360x1440 resolution? Would this be enough, or should I go with the 680? Im not really looking into AMD/ATI, had waay too many issues with them to continue with them.

Eventually I will upgrade to SLI (probably when I upgrade to 3 27" monitors :)

I mostly plan on gaming the following games and would like to run them at the best setting possible across all three monitors. Would this set up be good enough, or do I need anything else?

I plan on playing: Rage, Crysis 2, Diablo III, Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, SkyRim, and Borderlands 2 as well as whatever other FPSs come out soon that look good.

The other parts I'm looking at are Intel 3930k, Asus Rampage IV Extreme, 16gb G.Skill ram, 240gb RevoDrive, and a couple other things.

What are your guy's thoughts? Much appreciated, thanks!

If you want to use a nvdia card, then all monitors have to have the same resolution. You need an AMD card to make your setup work. If you want to play at the best settings possible and at a reasonable framerate then you will need to run sli. The 670 has a better price/performance ratio, but is obviously a little slower. Would suggest you get either a CUII card from ASUS or dual fan card from MSI. You need better cooling if you go the sli root and they don't cost that much more.

Thanks. I'm planning on watercooling my rig, including the GPU, so I'm not worried about the heat.

So, if I go nvidia, I can't use that set up at all? All 3 monitors have to be the same resolution? Hmm, that really stinks. If I do SLI, would it allow me to run the PLP setup?

Edit: What about using something like widescreenfixer or HaYdEnS to run my games in 4360x1440 mode? It seems like that would work well from what I've read...

Thanks again!

It has nothing to do with a fix or sli. Surround can only be setup if all three screens run at the same resolution. So you either go AMD or use three screens with the same res.
