Seiki has a new 39" 4k UHD 2160p out for $650 now on Tiger Direct. Looks like this normally sells for $700 -- currently on sale for $650. Heck, even Sears apparently sells it. Looks like China is trying to break the 1080p panel cartel by hitting them where it hurts with a pre-emptive price war. This panel is also the same one that is in the $600 Skyworth tv. Rumor has it the panel itself is worth about $400 if you can source it. Someone like Overlord needs to make a 60hz DP 1.2 board for this thing.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=4717The ASUS 32" 4k UHD panel has DP on board but is $3500 each. Heck you could do 5x1P Seiki 39" for the price of one of those ASUS panels. I hope Catleap or some Korean manufacturer start knocking out displays with the same panel the ASUS uses soon.
I'm VERY tempted to get one of those Seiki 39" to play with. That 30hz port bandwidth limitation is making me squirm though. How short sighted can HDMI spec group be anyways? I'm not all that worried about buying a 4k UHD if it has 60hz DP 1.2 on board. It's room to grow into -- especially if you ever plan to humor 3x1L. At least with that pixel density you can turn down the anti-aliasing a bit to help counter the sheer pixel hammering the GPUs would get.
