[quote]I never played Silver - and I really want to, now... :( I can't find it anywhere, though...

That was the whole problem with Silver, it was way underestimated back then and therefore it never got off the ground. It doesn't work under Windows XP btw.

VMware? / Right click | properties | Run as 98?

It's a virtual machine. Google for more info. :)

I completely forgot Deus Ex! I guess the horror that was DX:IW put me off. Odd I forgot, since I've currently got a shortcut to DX on my desktop...

X-Wing Alliance doesn't have widescreen. Believe me, I tried...

No, I've not tried ArtMoney, but I tried something similar a while back. I never managed to figure out how it handled resolutions. But that was a while ago, and I wasn't quite as good at hex editing then... maybe I should have another go... (if I can get the game running, at least - it crashes at load on my newer systems...)

Man, there sure are some classic games being mentioned in this thread. Looking at the responses, it does seems like WS makes a diffrence. Althought it seems like gameplay (like all the old Atari and Commador games) is even more important to gamers... IMHO I would say that even though games like Paperboy had great playability and were adictive, they can't compete with a modern widescreen offering like Half Life 2.

VMware basicly lets you run 98 / 2000 / whatever, with XP.

So what you have is you're normal XP, then VMware running on your machine that you start up and bobs you're uncle you have options to run 98, 2000, or what ever inside VMware without leaving the XP interface.

Virtual Machine Ware.

HAndy tool. All I need now is a working copy of 98. Anyone got this?

Cool, i'm going to try that. I would certainly like to play Silver once more.

Edit: Isn't Virtual PC 2004 something similar? I now remember i have VPC somewhere.

One other game that I absolutely loved....and that I feel deserves honorable mention is Lucasarts's The Secret of Monkey Island with the SCUMM engine.

Man that game rocked. A true adventure classic. :)
