So what exactly is you problem ? ... may be someone here can help you.

NFSMW & Battlefield wouldn't start up

Does it lock up ?
Does it junk out to desktop ?

Please post you system specs ... a good place to put them is in your signature ... :D

What res are you trying to run ?
Are you trying to run a res that your monitor is not set up for ... i.e. A custom resolution ?

Are you using 2xQ AA ? ... it seems widescreens don't like this ... :(

Hi,

Hold on. I've been able to get NFSMW running with that RES changer someone posted.

Concerning Battlefield 2; some other guy at EA told me that i could force the resolution trough the desktop shortcut - as most of you told before - but that doesn't work for me.

I've been doing this shortcut res changer for a while, but that doesn't seem to work; i even did the changing of the 'Video.con' setting in the 'profile' map of Battlefield 2, but that also didn't work.

You said something about 2 x AA (anti - aliasing i reckon)

I have a Acer AL 1916W widescreen monitor. What are the proper settings then?

Messing with the 'Video.con' setting usually causes the game not to run (for me) ... you may need to reinstall ... :(

What res are you trying to run BF2 at ? ... I will give it a try.

2xAA is talking about Antialiasing.
In the Nvidia settings there is an option for 2xQ AA which for many causes games to end up with corrupt graphics when using a widescreen resolution.

2xAA should be OK ... :D

I did reinstall, the first time is messed with de 'video.con' settings, that didn't work at all, so i reinstalled.

I ran BF2 on my CRT at 1280 x 1024 @85hz, now i'm trying to run at 1440 x 900 @ 60 hz on my Acer AL1916W - cause that's the max. res. -

I'll try to mess with the AA..

Hmmm ... very strange ... :?

Could you copy and paste your target line from your shortcut ... just so we can double check ... I'll then try it on mine if you like ... 8)

Yeah ... your shortcut correct ... I used your shortcut and it worked fine for me.

I found a fix by someone else that seemed to be having the same problem as you ... look here at the post by Kaspre ... it is the second post ...
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/#comment-

Also ... a couple of things to check ...

1 - Make sure you are using the Battlefield 2 Profile in the Nvidia settings.

2 - Make sure you are not using 2xQ AA in the Nvidia settings ... set it to Application Controlled

Let me know how you get on ... :D

Hmm..

Still no use. I saw that topic by Kaspre.

I added the BF2.exe file in the Nvidia settings and set the AA to application controlled, it gave the splash logo, black screen and then back to desktop.

So, no progress...

I don't know what to suggest now ... :?

You could try one last time ... uninstalling the game removing the all it's installation folders including the one in My Documents and then use some sort of registry cleaner to remove all the Battlefield 2 entries from your registry.

I did a Google for registry cleaner there are plenty ... which one would be best I don't know as I haven't has to use one yet.

Then reinstall the game.

Sorry that isn't much help ...
If it is any consolation I didn't like the widescreen res because the top and bottom get cut off so I play 4x3 stretched which doesn't look so bad.

No problem, thanks for you're help anyway. At least some people do help others - unlike EA - i'll uninstall, clean the reg., and when that's done, i'll come back with the final conclusion.

It's that, or sell BF2 to someone..

What sound card are you using?

As that might explain the issues.
