Bioshock is a bit disappointing? I was thinking of buying it off Steam, lazy arse that I am.

Hmm...maybe I'll wait.

I had the save game crash problem with Stalker, but the first patch fixed that quickly and I had zero hassles playing the game cranked up at 1680x1050 on Vista 32 bit.

Such a great game - atmosphere, plot, mood, action - all of it. Looking forward to the sequel.

It's disappointing to me. Everyone else (read: Computer Gaming Press and fanbois) seems to think that it's the dogs bollocks.

I was really looking forward to STALKER prior to release as I was pretty desperate to get away from TES4, barring a couple of minor problems with retail I made the mistake of rushing the game then as soon as I had played through it once started tinkering with it.

In one of those mixed blessing (good/bad) kind of ways other things in my life took precedence so I was able to stop myself before I continued getting deeper into moding a new game, it really was a problem with Oblivion I didn’t seem able to stop and I am bloody relieved I was forced to stop when I started on STALKER.

I have been reading really good things about the patches for the game and some of the mods that are kicking around for it now that fix some of the issues/non-issues that bugged me at release so I will be re-installing it at some point and this time I will take it easy and just enjoy the experience without particularly aiming to “finishâ€

meh, the less I say about Bioshock the better, it just shows me to be the bitter consumer I am. :(

Y'know, I'm glad it's not just me that doesn't like Bioshock. :)

The game would kick some ass if they release an Editor, they have some cool stuff to make some levels.

Well it's not the thrill ride I thought it would be. Nothing really compels me to keep playing it... I'm getting sick of killing splicers and I don't even think I'm that far into the game! Oh and I REALLY hate the gun/plasmid switching controls.

And am I the only person who thinks the whole 'moral descision' was really poorly implemented? I mean to flash up a screen saying "YOU MUST NOW MAKE A MORAL DESCISION!" really removes the player from any sense of immersion or connection to the game world, it just reduces the scenario to a simple Y/N button press. I really hate console ports and BioShock stinks of one.

I too got distracted from Stalker, which is a real shame as I was loving it, must go back and rejoin the chernobyl food chain.

Just played some Stalker for the first time today. It runs brilliantly at 1920x1200 on my xp machine thank god, with everything cranked almost all the way up.
The game so far is very interesting but i can see that it will take me many months to finish it...lots of slow bits between action and i'm not much of an rpg fan at all. I did like desuex though which is why i probably like this one. they play quite similar to eachother.

Aye.

If Deus Ex was remade using the UE3 (provided that that engine does actually support Horiz+) it would be awesome. :D

Amazing, 'widescreenies' don't love Bioshock. Having read the previews, reviews et al I was very excited about getting it, then came the whole WS issue and my excitement went 'flop'. Thanks to WSGF and the hack I was once again excited! Now I am playing it and there is more #ahem# floppiness! It is OK, and I like the whole plasmid thing. But talk about linear and REPETITIVE! splicer splicer splicer all moaning away- the levels look the same. The immersion from the moaning (and diaries) has now changed to annoyance! The monotony broken up by Big Daddies who are all (so far) called rosie!
STALKER, however, is great and quirky- gritty and tactical, I liked it so much I wrote the DR! ;) I will always prefer a few bugs and style, to slick and consoley. Down with the PC games increasing 'console'ation! Burn all consoles  .....................(apart from the Wii which is a laugh with a few beers and is unlikely to be replicated or ported to out beloved PCs!)
*rant complete*
