For now I think we should find another host as it doesn´t work good for most people. Let´s wait and see what Ibrin comes up with. If he finds something I can try and download it in the morning, afternoon, evening and night with a script and see if it makes any difference. No offense Frag Maniac, just trying to see if there are better options and keeping the door open.

None taken, hey, I'm always looking for a better service myself, especially one with servers worldwide. To tell you the truth, I was very tempted by Rapidshare until I found that they too limit to 30 days unviewed, then delete. I could adapt to sub 100MB file size, with smaller bit rates and viewing size, but I just can't count on always being able to remember to view each one of my many files once a month to make sure they're not deleted. I hate leaving unusable links on forums, and the mods generally don't like it either.

If Filefront had Euro servers once, it was probably something they were testing and found too expensive. Who knows, maybe they'll bring them back, that would be nice.

For now, I'm all ears Ibrin, and open to suggestion. Personally I prefer forums with international activity, it makes for more stimulating and often more mature chat.

I uploaded the file here. I had to change the name a bit, as the brackets gave the BBCode in phpBB hell. Let me know what DL speeds you can hit.

I would say that Apple throttles downloads to somewhere between 180-200. I downloaded three copies simultaneously, and each ended up holding at 188 kb/s.

Each downloaded fine, and was a high-quality movie. About 11.5 minutes long, at 480p (720x480) and 30fps. Nice A-Team soundtrack.

I'd say the Apple servers did well for me, how about everyone else? I could upgrade the .mac account and then offer to serve videos for Insiders. I'd want to set some ground rules (i.e., nothing offensive, and they need to have a widescreen flavor to them), but what would the interested parties think about that?

I started downloading manually before work and the speed at best was 77kb/s. It started out with 70kb/s and then 77kb/s the rest of the time. It took about 35-40mins. Sweden timezone 06:30am-07:10am

To me it goes about 90kbps. I don't think that's really bad.
The question is will it also go that fast when a lot of people download the file simoultaniously.

We could try and schedule a time when a bunch of us try and download it at the same time.

Good idea, but we have to find a way to sync everyone in different timezones.

It started out at 170 kbs then dropped back to 85, but i cancelled it at 5%, it feels kinda stupid downloading a movie you made yourself and have on your computer :P
