OK, I'll give them a shot hopefully later tonight, but I'm packing at the minute...

Apperently brilliant highlights work but when I install brilliant bloom the aspect ratio in widescreen becomes completely f'ed. Not a very big issues since I can play without the bloom. However what I cannot play without is Anti-aliasing which of course doesnt work... Stupid ATI card I should have went for Nvidia!

Don't understand why it would be an ATi issue... particularly since I tested Doom 3 with a 4870X2 (pretty much guaranteed to have problems if there are going to be any due to the internal Crossfire) and I cannot, no matter what I try, replicate the issues you describe. :(

Closest I can get is turning UAC up to max when Doom 3 is just freshly installed and so hasn't generated the DoomConfig.cfg file. :(

Well.. I guess I just had some bad luck then. I have a 4870x2 myself :)

I'm glad you took the time to test, I think I wont waste much more time trying to fix this.

As soon as I get a chance (new PSU for a system sitting gutted at the minute) I'm gonna test this out with XP32, XP64 and Vista64 as well. I can't believe that I can't replicate the issue. It's really winding me up now.

Just adding some info about running this game on triple wide, the hack posted by Paddy The Wack in this thread - http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=6156&start=0&hilit=doom - still works fine at 5040x1050, the AR is fixed, i posted some screenshots here.
I think Doom 3 is worth a try at super wide, specially on ultra high settings + AA8X or 16X.

I'm tempted to take a crack at modding the HUD to play nice with triplehead resolutions (I'm already making a texture pack, after all).

I'll tweak around with it and see what i can come up with.

I can't seem to get the 'seta r_aspectRatio' command to work. I'm running at 1360x768 on XP. I had to change the config file to read-only in order to get the command to save but, that didn't work. The screen is still stretched, even though the command is in the config file. Any suggestions?

EDIT: I created an autoexec file and put the command in there, that seemed to do the trick. Odd that having the command in the doomConfig.cfg didn't work.

Well I've tried just about everything and looked just about everywhere, so I figured I might as well post here for a possible solution.

Basically I've got the same problem as some of the other people who've posted here. I'm trying to change the resolution to my native 1920x1200, but no matter what I do, the resolution always resets back to 640x480.
I've tried a bunch of different solutions and nothing seems to do the trick. I've edited DoomConfig.cfg (and set it to Read Only), created an autoexec.cfg, tried changing the resolution in-game with the console, ran the game as Admin, ran the game in XP Compatibility Mode and tried various combinations of the above to no avail.

As I've said before, I've got the Steam version of the game and am running it in Win 7 x64 with a Radeon HD 5770.
The funny thing is, I think I got this working on my old rig with XP and an 8800GTS, so I'm guessing it's got something to do with either the OS or the fact that I've got an ATI card (unless I'm making some incredibly stupid mistake over and over).

So does anyone have a clue as to what could be wrong and how I could fix it? Or should I just /uninstall and get on with my life?
