i want to use my 42" samsung plamsa 852 X 480 EDTV tv as my computer monitor. i hooked it up using a dvi output on my radeon video card. i bought a wire that converts from dvi to hdmi so it worked with the input on the tv.

the screen looks great for pictures, however text is blurry and hard on the eyes. at first i thought it might be due to the size of the screen, but then i compared the 42" tv from far back to my pc monitor close up. the pc monitor text still looked much more clear.

does anyone have any adivce on what to do?

are you running the screen at 852x480 pixels? text should be clear if so

well obvoiusly it cant take 1080 if the text is blurry. why oversample the image when you can run it native pixel to pixel?

This may not be the solution for you, but I had to disable ClearType font smoothing on my computer because one monitor is RGB and the other is BGR (making one or the other fuzzy if is turned on). You may want to turn the font smoothing off or to standard. Also, maybe increase the dpi?

Or try the Cleartype Tuner if you're only using one screen:
