hmmm, that sonds a little pricey to me though.

I know nothing about the specifications of these cards, but when I first heard about them, I understood they would basically be another dedicated processor (a PPU I suppose).

Early (general user) graphics cards were never this much - once the PhysX technology has advanced, perhaps the top-end version could cost $300?

But I'm sure a cheapy, dedicated processor could still provide a massive boost in physics performance when the technology first arrives.

I like the idea, but no one will pay more for one of these than their graphics card. Likewise, not many people will want to spend $500+ on a GPU and another $300 on a PPU.

your average PC user has a sub $200 dollar GPU - if that!

I was hoping these would be at the $100 mark. To be a real "must have" item.

[EDIT]

not many people will want to spend $500+ on a GPU and another $300 on a PPU.

Although I'll probably get one

...Thanks for the vids.

@ pub joe, its amazing people will spend 100's for off board audio, as it is so good now, but they still do. If you want the best you pay. If it came here for 200 pound sterling i would pay it. thats only HALF the cost of ONE GPU card, let alone two :)

I may be mistaken, but isn't the picture of the PPU a PCI-E card? If so, there is no way you can run crossfire or SLI with these...until boardmakers make a board with 3 dedicated full PCI-E interfaces.

The alienware I looked at stated that it could not include the PPU in a SLI system due to space constraints. Maybe it meant physical space and not available slots.

Does anyone know what interface the PPU is? Is it half PCI-E, full PCI-E, or PCI? I couldn't find the answer anywhere on that website.
