BF2 and the video.con file issue should be stickied somewhere.

It seems we have to tell people about this at least once a week. Considering the popularity of the game and how EVERY SINGLE person who switches to WS will have this problems only further re-iterates my point.

Just food for thought.

[quote]Also, some games will require various config files to be reset (aka: deleted) if you switch to widescreen.

BF2 and Painkiller are 2 examples ...

For Battlefield 2 ... try this ...
I think the problem is that the game makes more than one video.con ...

Do a search for ... video.con ... delete all that you find ... the game should re-create them once you start the game.

Then once it is working try changing it to your desired res via the shortcut target ...

This ...
"C:Program FilesEA GAMESBattlefield 2BF2.exe"
becomes ...
"C:Program FilesEA GAMESBattlefield 2BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050
or ...
"C:Program FilesEA GAMESBattlefield 2BF2.exe" +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200
... just change the res to your desire ... :D

Sorry I can't remember the files for Painkiller ...
I think it may be the config.ini in the bin folder for the game ...

Hello,

Is the second bit (editing the shortcut) the one considered a hack by PB? As im looking to find a way to play a few games in 1920x1200 as my Dell 2407 arrvies today. :D

Cheers

No ... PB does not have a problem with this ... :D

... this is only a part solution for BF2 ... it gets you the right res but the top and bottom of the view is chopped off ... :(
And ... it does not work with other games ... ... :(

Cheers. I suppose it will have to do. I play CS Source and COD2 mostly (along with BF2), so they shouldnt be too hard to work out. Most my other games are on my xbox360, which is why i got the 2407, as it has a component input like the HP 21" widescreen.

Thanks again for your help, im sure i'll be asking about stuff again. :)

If you are going to use the XBox 360 with the 2407, use the VGA cable. The 2407 has horrid component support. Thankfully, VGA is better than component anyhow.
