Multi-monitor Grade: B

Read Full Detailed Report - World Racing 2

World Racing 2 is a racing game from Synetic and TDK. It improves over the original racing with a far greater selection of cars and manufacturers to choose from (the original only featured Mercedes-Benz), an upgraded graphics and physics engine, and new gameplay modes, including a "career" mode where you participate in races across the world and accomplish objectives to earn cash which can be spent on new cars and upgrades.

==Game Information==

==Version==

This information is based on demo #3, and may or may not apply to the full game.

==Method==

Launch the config app. Unless you are actually using a 16:9 resolution, do *NOT* enable the "Widescreen" checkbox. Enable the "Square pixels" one instead. This option is recommended even if you aren't using widescreen, because it ensures you get the correct aspect ratio based on your resolution (1024x768 and 1280x1024 have different aspect ratios, for example).

If you are using a 16:9 resolution, the "Widescreen" option and "square pixels" option will have the same effect on 3D screens, but the "Widescreen" option will correct 2D screens as well, so you're better off using that one. Don't enable both, though, because that will cause an undesirable accumulative effect.

==Screen change==

The game is hor +..

1024x768, "Square pixels"

1280x800, "Square pixels"

==Supported resolutions==

I tested this on my desktop, which supports resolutions up to 1280x1024. All tested resolutions worked.

Confirmed: 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x800
Unconfirmed: 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, and 1920x1200.

==Singleplayer anomalies==

2D screens are stretched unless you are using a 16:9 resolution and have "Widescreen" enabled.

1024x768, "Square pixels"

1280x800, "Square pixels"

1280x720, "Widescreen"

==Multiplayer support==

The demo doesn't support multiplayer, but multiplayer should work fine at hor + in the full version, because of the native hor + solution independent of game vars.

==Aspect ratio support==

The game's aspect ratio automatically matches your resolution as long as "Square pixels" is selected.

"Widescreen" only gives you the correct aspect ratio if your resolution is 16:9.

1280x720, "Widescreen"

1280x800, "Square pixels"

1280x480, "Square pixels"

==HUD stretch==

The HUD does not stretch.

==Cut-scenes==

The demo didn't have any cut-scenes. Does the full version have any?

==Grading==

Calculated grade: B
Potential grade: B+

Major unresolved issues:
None

Minor unresolved issues:
Are 1440x900, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, and 1920x1200 supported?
Does the full version have any cut-scenes?
If so, how are they handled?

Summary of widescreen-related flaws:
Stretched 2D screens at non-16:9 resolutions

Cranky's coverage estimate: 98.5%

I have the full version of the game and I only encountered a few introductory movies, no cut scenes so far.

It runs fine on 1680x1050.

Do these "introductory movies" have any thematic material and/or flavor for the game? Or are they just logos?
