You think about a laptop for browsing and a desktop for playing? I had a IBM T20 (build in 2001) - it was great for the internet. You can´t do much more with it, but if you take a one or two year old lappy, you can play a lot of games with it.

BTW: Minesweepeer was running great with my T20 :D

Best wishes,
Holzstock

My parents go to sleep usually before i do my online gaming with talking so i was planning on getting a decent laptop to use sometimes for playing some games on low and then having a desktop to use for gaming on high other times

That or just get a laptop or just a desktop.

I was looking at
p5b
hiper psu
60 dollar case
2gb ram 800 4-4-4-12 timings
e6300
8800gts - 640mb
Cheapo audigy sound card
120mm zalman fan with as5
250gb hdd
dvd rw drive
good wireless card
windows xp
mx518 and generic keyboard
20" benq
2-3 games
For 1700 USD

which gives me 500-600 for a basic lappy
Operating System Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic
Processor AMD Turion(TM) 64 Mobile MK-36 (2.0 GHz/512KB)
Display 15.4" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
Graphics Card NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 6150 w/Productivity Ports
Personalization Imprint Finish + Microphone + QuickPlay
Memory 1GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Hard Drive 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Primary CD/DVD Drive DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
Networking 802.11b/g WLAN
TV & Entertainment Experience No TV Tuner w/remote control
Primary Battery 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Productivity Software Microsoft(R) Works 8.0

Which would probably be able to run basic games find to keep me entertained

My friend has a notebook with a pentium M all the other specs are the same except for gfx card his is intel integrated so this should do fine for 625 bucks

TOTAL:: 2350 I can pay for about 700 of it right now and parents will probably pay for 1000-1500 of it

I got rid of 5.1 surround sound, 24" screen, better case, better heatsink, better sound card, better wireless to get it down cheap enough for the lappy

Yeah my parents usually go to bed at 8-9 at i usually play til 9 or 10 to i can't talk then and i usually only start playing at 7 so i would miss a lot of gaming time. Then again i can always play my basic games on the desktop downstairs (since the laptop will be integrated i can play the basic ones on my old pc which has a basic gfx card) and send my sister upstairs (she would be more than willing to temporarily use a faster pc and bigger screen :D) and make a limited account in xp so she can't screw up anything

If your friend is 50 meter away then you can bring it (so is my friend :P)
And campzone, is a LAN-Party in the netherlands, in the vacation and you will get a good network.
