First, a bit of history. Initial screenshots indicated that MS Flight Sim X was vert -. Then, somebody posted that if you open a config file and set "WideViewAspect" to true, it would be hor + instead.
I just spent a great deal of time taking and retaking screenshots of MS Flight Simulator X to test this and to make sure that I wasn't doing anything wrong. And I think I have come to the conclusion that "WideViewAspect" does NOT work properly, isn't meant to be touched, meaning we go back to the native vert - solution. The problem is that enabling this increases the FOV
way too much.
First, a 4:3 shot:
1024x768
Next, a 16:10 shot:
1280x800
Finally, here's that 16:10 shot, in black and white, with the 4:3 shot in color superimposed over it:
Frankly, I think this FOV overshoot is unreasonably large. It suggests to me that the "WideViewAspect" option was hidden for a reason; because it doesn't work right. I recommend removing this solution from the MGL, and reverting it to "Native/Vert -."
If there's no questions, objections, or any other input within 48 hours, I'll do that myself.
