Hi all, i was having problems after installing the new GXm software and once i switched to 5040x1050 my middle monitor would go black so i tried a few things, previously i was using the CVT reduced blank trick from http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/9741 but with those settings just wouldnt work, the odd thing is while installing the new GXM it would show at 55HZ so after doing that cvt reduced blank trick and changing the GDI refresh rate to 59 instead of 57 it worked o/ i think matrox messed up on it but i tried it at 59hz since 55+2=57 and since the GDI refresh rate was 57 i added 2 more hz to make it 57hz to couteract the matrox mess up.

I tried setting the GDI refresh rate at 60 since that helped a few peeps but just wouldnt work for me, but 59 sure did work.

So anyways to get 5040x1050 with Nvidia 181.20 and GXM 2.04.00.011 follow the CVT reduced blank trick from this thread http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/9741 but instead of using 57 for GDI refresh rate use 59 and it should work, heck who new math could come ever come in hand :D

Welcome and I am glad it worked for you. For me it didn't, while I was playing around I tried every refresh between 50 and 60 but still kept getting the test failed message.
However it is worth a try, the test failed thing is (I think) caused by matrox overwriting the custom res stuff. Svet-am got it to work in this thread http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/10004 So good luck to those who try.

Me? I am back to faithful and hassle free XP....until they get DX10 working in TH and these errors fixed it is hardly worth the bother to go Vista IMO.

Glad it worked for you. Even though it was my fix, no one ever gives me credit, always Matt and his post :( LOL
