Hello,

Great place to be here, now that Matrox has decided to pull the plug on their own forum, since I am the proud owner of a TH2Go and all.

I hve searched through the forum to find a good working .cfg for F1 Challenge 99-02.
The one I already have was from the days that the Matrox forum was still up and running, (I think Paddy the Wak(the real surround guru of the first hour!) provided it, but the aspect is not optimal, since the car is really narrow and the mirrors are dissected by the screen beZels.

I seem to remember that there were issues, in that every car's FOV had to be changed individually or so (I have just recently gotten a renewed interest in this game)

Maybe you Paddy or somebody else can shed a little light on it, and put their optimized .cfg file up.

Thanks a lot !

K i n d s u r r o u n d r e g a r d s !

Hello,

You could be using my settings, because I did post some settings for this game at Matrox Tech Support Forums. I think that it was actually me, who said that we needed different type of camera settings for each car.

This was my settings for Ferrari car in "default.cfg" file:

LocalCam=COCKPIT
{
Fov=(107.000000, 62.500000)
Clear=TRUE
Color=(164, 218, 249)
ClipPlanes=(0.100000, 500.000000)
LODMultiplier=(1.000000)
MipmapLODBias=(-1.500000)
Size=(1.000000, 1.000000)
Center=(0.500000, 0.500000)
Flags1=(0)
Flags2=(0)
RadiusLimits=(0.000000, 0.000000)
OrientationRate=(35.000000, 35.000000, 25.000000)
PositionOffset=(0.000000, 0.20000000, 7.900000) (Left-Right, Up-Down, Back,Forward)
OrientationOffset=(-0.030000, -0.000000, 0.000000)
Radius=(-7.500000)
}

Well, I never had the time or the interest to optimize the camera settings for other cars. It's a shame that the game doesn't really support adjustable FOV like GTR, GTR2 and rFactor, for example. In many ways, these games look very similar to F1 Challenge 99-02.

Hello, racing sim guru reporting as ordered! :)

Unfortunately I do not have F1C of any flavor. However, I will note that more recent sims based on ISI technology have the option of on-the-fly FOV adjustment in-car, or at the very least in the game GUI. Does F1C have this option. If not, can you move the seat and achieve something acceptable?

The idea is to get the mirrors away from the bezel. In most cars/sims I try to put them just outside on the bezels, on th inside edges of the left and right monitor. Failing that, I put them jsut inside the edges of the center monitor.

This is even easier of you have 6DOF TrackIR.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your replies!

Sorry for my late getback, but I am still working a few days away from home, so no time for the surroundstuf ;-)

I think have indeed your settings Matroxrulez, and a big thank you for that!, I just have to wiggle around a bit with the number I guess to make it even more acceptible for my needs,

However maybe it's time to move up to some more recent drive simulations, as you named a few.
It's still a shame though that the only F1sim is made for the Playstation nowadays...

Once again, thanks for all your inputs, and keep the FOV to the max!

Martin

Yes, it's a shame, but there are some great mods available for rFactor. Like this one, for example:

Exactly. Playstation may have the only official F1 sim, but most of the many rFactor F1 mods are fantastic. rFactor is the place to be for F1 right now. Some of the rFactor F1 stuff is apparently being redone for GTR2 as well, although there are issues with permission and that sort of thing.
