Dx9 v Dx10 screenshots and performance comparison
http://www.maximumpc.com/article/lost_planet_dx9_vs_dx10
http://www.tweaktown.com/news/7523/index.html
http://www.hothardware.com/News/DX9_vs_DX10_with_Lost_Planet/

Dx10 does not offer great improvement in visuals (Dx10 seems just a little bit more colorfull on screenshots than Dx9), it offers 7-15fps lower performance than Dx9 ==>> so far, according to this demo (although Lost Planet is not a game developed as Dx10 title form scratch), Dx10 is dead failure

[quote]I played this demo on a 360 (at a retail kiosk), and it doesn't look at all shabby compared to the PC version. Look downright exactly the same, if the PC version doesn't look a bit better.

PC version looks ALOT better. 8)

Id hope the PC version looks alot better :P

As that article mentioned, you can buy an entire Xbox 360 just for the cost of the video card in a PC.

I kept thinking to myself I hated where consols are going with the PS3 and 360 costing so much. Id only maybe think about a Wii @ 250$

But that is a harsh reality that PC hardware too is becoming too expensive, to get on the DX10 bandwagon requires a hefty fee for entry.

I think 90% of people who play games on a PC would have a decent computer whether they went console or not... With a decent processor and 2 gigs of RAM, it only takes a $400 entry fee to be playing games at better resolutions and settings than most 360 games.

To keep up you'd have to buy another card way before you'd have to buy another console, sure, but those new PC games would look a lot better. If all you wanted was 360 quality you could probably stick with an 8800 for a few years. Look at Doom 3 on the Xbox, it looked like a 2 or 3 year old card would run it on a PC.

PC vs. console is really a culture and gameplay style difference. I think people who grew up on the old Lucasarts games or old ID shooters will always play on PC. People who grew up with Mario or Final Fantasy will probably stick to console.

Despite a lot of ports, they're still very seperate cultures, in my opinion.

That was a lot of off-topic crap

Not too much has changed since say $550 for an x800xt pe.

Its only about $240 to get a decent DX10 card (the 8800gts 320)

Long live PC gaming.
