texasphile ... welcome tho the forum ... 8)

Unfortunately I have no idea why the keys are not working for you ...
Very strange ...

Sorry that isn't any help ... all I could suggest is try changing your keyboard ... but you have thought of that yourself.

In the detailed report on bioshock, someone found a keyboard remapper that lets you map a key into something else. Try and see if you can map a key to * and see if it works. Some ppl dont even have a number pad on thier keyboard, so looks like something like that is nessasary for a small number of people.

Harakiri found it, thanks Harakiri:

Has anyone without a numpad (don't ask!) managed to get the patch working?

Each time I press shift it jumps to the plasmid menu before I can press 8 to get *.

*Goes off to see if he can change the shift key in Control Options*

The latest version of the hack on the solution page uses the Ctrl key not the Shift key ... :D

Ah - noticed that, but too dumb to realise what it meant

ETA: Still can't get it to work though - set my preferred FOV using the hack, start game, in game press CTRL, nowt happens.

I'm sure other Vista users are getting it okay! Damn...

Hello everyone,

Well I just read about changing the keybindings. The Z-Board keyboards come with a software keyboard bindings program. I just re-installed it (without changing anything) and now the Mod works like a charm.

Hooray, Hooray, Hooray. Now I might actually play it for a bit. Thanks to all for their help.

Chris

Just adjust the sliders before you play the game (or alt tab out to adjust them) then you dont have to worry about ctrl.
Just hit the * on num pad to enable it when you are in game.

That's my problem though - no numpad, and ctrl doesn't work for me.

Core blimey ... this is getting confusing ... dogmatique

You need to press the * key on your number pad to enable the hack.
If you haven't got a num pad then your out of luck.

The Ctrl key is for use in conjunction with the + or - keys (on the num pad) to alter the height FOV ...

The instructions are on the front of the tool.

So ... if you haven't got a num pad it isn't going to work for you.

Have you tried this program (link below) to remap your keys ?
I'm not saying it will help ... but it might ... 8)

Shitsticks and arsefeathers.

I thought this might be the case. And I don't think you can re-map keys that don't originally exist. Damn my stoopid http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/192&cl=us,en]poncey keyboard.
