Yes i do fully realise that the only games i ever discuss are those no ones ever heard of..

It says native in the master game list but i was wondering if there were any hacks to put in custom resolutions, 1280 by 768 is ugly as im running 1280 by 720...

I hate 1280x768. See Civ4. Just got Silent Storm Gold for xmas and it's 1280x960. I wish companies would support the standard resolution of 1280x720, dammit.

1280x960 is a default 4:3 resolution. Most people think 1280x1024 is the normal res but that is actually not exactly 4:3, 1280x960 is.

I say, there would be plenty of widescreen threads back on the Egosoft forums already, but oh well...

The manual says that there's a FOV option in the options menu. But like many features, thanks to our beloved publishers (Deep Silver/Enlight), it didn't make it in before the deadline.

However, what I'd suggest is waiting for patch 1.3 at least - one of the things promised is 'more graphics options' or something vague like that.
Now there has been plenty of complaining by widescreen users over there, so maybe, just maybe (and no, I have no inside information, despite that 'mod' tag I recently aquired there, so I do not know) this might include the FOV setting. Keep hoping...

The patch has been promised for before Christmas iirc.

Besides, X³ ain't that bad in widescreen if you've never played the normal aspect

that website is massive, im confused.. is this game actually well known? i mean it seems very cool but i had heard NOTHING about it, but that forum is huge. anyways, ive been asking over there too, trying to figure out how to get an actual resolution. 1280 by 768 is dumb. it cuts off half my screen and whenever you run a resolution that is wrong, your game will intermetently crash (at least thats what ive found)

The X games have a large community of loyal subj... errr, players. And many new people come there to join in on the fun. The games are not your common mass-public stuff like all those RTS/FPS games out there, which is why it's not so commonly known.

But I have to say... X³ (and X² too) has brought in so many new players to the forums, it's not quite the board it used to be in the old days. I'm just glad I have witnessed it in it's glory early on.

'More graphics options' apparently only related to quality (AA 'n stuff).

Still no widescreen FOV :(

The patch did a lot of other good things though...

For info, Egosoft has released v1.4.1 beta patch which fixes the aspect ratio problem for widescreen. I haven't tried it yet though.

Seen it, tried it. Just didn't make a mention here as it's a BETA and therefore not an official release.

It fixes the general widescreen aspect and cutscenes are good, but it still has a few minor issues I pointed out in a thread in the Egosoft Tech Support forum.

So before jumping to any conclusions, I'd suggest waiting for the final patch to arrive and see if they've done anything about the issues. If you can't wait to try and test it, well... go get it. Just remember at all times: it's BETA.
