Splinter Cell was developed by Ubisoft Montreal.


This is a stealth-based adventure game played in a third-person perspective.

Please note that the FOV changes will only appear in cut-scenes with existing profiles. You must create a new profile/game with the FOV changes already made to get Hor + throughout the game.


No native support for widescreen resolutions.


Go to "*Root Game Directory*System" and open "SplinterCellUser.ini" with a text editor. Search for...



DesiredFOV=**
DefaultFOV=**



Change "**" to the fov for your desired aspect ratio.

The keypad mouse-click detection areas are misaligned with a left shift in widescreen resolutions. The detection width is the same so if a button will only detect a click on the left half of the button the remaining detection area will have been shifted to the left of the button. All coverage stats listed start from the left side of the button.

100% - Normal coverage. The entire button has mouse-click detection.
75% - Normal mouse-click detection except for the right quarter of the button.
50% - The left half of the button is selectable.
0% - There is no mouse-click detection on the button. You must click the left area beside the button.

Vista, from Astaroth.




The Windows Vista file path is as follows.

C:Users*username*AppDataLocalVirtualStoreProgram Files (x86)*if your Vista is 64 bit*Ubi SoftSplinter Cellsystem

The AppData folder is hidden by default. Make sure you set your view options so that hidden and system files are shown.

Open up the SplinterCellUser.ini file and you will see this section near the top.

We had a DR of this previously. It used a vert - solution, so this one replaces it. But in the previous one, it was decided that the keypad anomaly affected gameplay enough to be considered a consequential flaw.

Calculated grade: C+

Keypad misalignment is a consequential flaw.

This information is correct, but the wiki doesn't use it. The wiki just uses generic UE advice, which doesn't work with Splinter Cell. For this reason I spent a long time having to figure out myself how to do this. The wiki needs to be updated.

Doesn't work for me. if I change the resolution in the INI at all, may it be 1024x768 or whatever, it either won't launch or gives me a general protection fault, leaving windows (vista) set at 640x480.

any idea?

Hello guys i'm new here and i would honestly appreciate any help to get me started. For starters i need to ask some questions.

a)Why do you need to et changes to .ini file? The game lists widescreen resolutions on it's own. Does that mean that their not correct when their set?

b)I use a 2560x1600 resolution monitor. Is there no way to set it that high, even with the hack?

c)Cant there be done anything with the HUD? It looks nasty the way it's stretched! Same thing with zoom.

d) The FMV's supposedly are 640x480, but are they encoded with letterbox? So their source is actually widescreen based on the screens you provide.,
