I just got a 52 in sharp LCD HDTV and I find when im trying to game and sometime even jsut surf the web, I get the ocassional blackout for a second or so. It is persostant but not consistant.

I am using a pc with a ATI 2900xt with hdmi out to the tv hdmi in. This worked flawless for me on my 46 in westinghouse lcd tv and 32 in toshiba hdtv.

my monitor resoution max 1440 by 900 and tv is 1600 by 1200.
Tried diabling the monitoring and running tv at 1600 by 1200 but still the same balckout..

Anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem with my 1080p tv/monitor and nvidia cards and it has to do with the EDID, atleast it did on my end so you may have to do some digging for EDID/ATI and see what you come up with. i dont have an ATI card but that atleast may point you in the right direction . its basically like a copy protection for monitors so they wont do a proper handshake till you can overide it somehow.

Yhanks..

.looked into it and couldnt find anything conclusive on EDID. Though was HDCP comploant issue but dosent seem to be so...Tried earlier drivers as well and no luck..

Seems so odd why it wont stop blinking on this tv but ran on the other two fine.

Few ideas that occur to me...

Can you try it via D-Sub? (the blue 15-pin VGA connection...) does the same thing happen?

Also... 1600x1200? That's not a TV res, do you mean something else like 1920x1080?

The fact that the card didn't give you problems with two other TVs would seem to imply an error in the HDCP handshaking between the card and the TV. Are there any firmware updates available for that TV?
