Any idea of this thing would work? Don't let the price scare you, monoprice is typically 1/2 to 1/10th the cost of anyone else.

I think that is similar to the last product on the list; Kanex. We are unsure, you'd have to check yourself whether it provides the "actively transcodes a DP signal to HDMI using a powered chip in the adapter", to quote BHawthorne. As it is listed the USB is only for getting audio to the HDMI, like the Kanex.

I tried contacting Monoprice, Mach, but to be honest with you, I don't believe they even remotely understood the question I was asking (to be honest with you, I'm not sure I understand it completely). The Eyefinity combined with horsepower is just an irrestible option, but the DP decision from ATI was the deciding factor for me, to not purchase now and just wait and see how this all pans out. Not trying to be an ass here, but I have (3) 28" monitors that are begging for something just like this.

Yeah I don't really know what it means either, I just quoted Brad!

But if you are in doubt, there is no doubt. Pay the extra and get the Dell/Bizlink/etc which has been tested as working. Or, like me, wait and see what happens with the x2 and the (possible) cheaper single link cables ATi are trying to get made.

I can confirm that the Apple Mini-dp to dvi adaptor:

http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB571Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MTA4MzU1ODY

works when used with this cable:

http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/Mini-Displayport-Female-to-Displayport-Male-Adapter-Cable.html

I do get an error message that states that resolution and refresh rate will not match existing monitors due to incorrect cable but there have not been any problems whatsoever.

The resolutions are correct and any games I have played have worked without fault.

Cheers

Mark

Thanks Ben

I understand the list is confidential, but could you give an estimate on the typical price range?

Well I hooked up this adapter today
http://sewelldirect.com/DisplayPort-to-HDMI-Cable-Adapter---10-inches.asp
and sadly it does not work even tho it says on the package that it has "Active Technology." So I guess I am driving back down tomorrow to exchange it for the $100 one.

Yeah that would never work, look at the pics that are on the first post.. without an external power source to provide power to the chop/clock it will not work.
