So I downloaded and installed Starcraft ("Anthology") from battle.net using their client cuz I registered a cd key on my account.

How do I view the original game's intro movie? Brood War comes preinstalled and the intro movie that plays is the BW one.

Perhaps I'm missing something painfully obvious?

Is there a cinematics area somewhere in the singleplayer menus? Blizzard usually keeps something like that, though it should've been at the title. Then again, it's like a 12-year-old game. Can't remember.

for the other ones yes, you can pick them from the campaign mission lists as you unlock them.

not the intro though

Blizzard didn't exactly go out of their way to make the original intro accessible. To see it again, you need to trick StarCraft into thinking Brood War is not installed.

Here's something I made awhile ago:
http://www.2shared.com/file/10549021/24a806/sctrick.html
(click the part that says "Save file to your PC: click here")

Extract the four files to your Starcraft directory. Run "Starcraft.bat" to apply a micropatch intended for the original Starcraft, and run "BW.bat" to apply a micropatch intended for Brood War. When the former is applied, the game should behave exactly as if Brood War was not installed - the original intro will play, the menu graphics will mirror the original, and the expansion campaigns and maps won't work. I wouldn't try playing online, though (online with BW.bat should work fine - but don't sue me if it doesn't).

actually I just found a slightly easier way. I just removed the BroodWar.mpq from the directory temporarily, and the original intro plays.

It doesn't revert the opening screen or anything else but yeah...

That's really weird and stupid of Blizzard to have designed their game that way originally.

May I ask what the purpose of this is?

I think this has been covered.

How do I view the original game's intro movie?

Would probably just be easier to use youtube for a one off thing, my question still stands. ;)

Viewing it ingame provides the best quality, and doesn't require an Internet connection.
