Hey,
first the patch works really fine.
But I can't build a dock in the game!?
Does anyone have the same problem?

I just pulled out my AOE2 disc for the first time in 6 years! Holy crap guys, this is amazing.

I know this must be troubling to ask, but is there anyway you can get this patch working for vanilla AOE2? My friends and I don't have the expansion. I would love you the rest of my life!

Ingame it looks this way. I made this picture with my handy.

If I take a screenshot it looks like this. (picture was taken with the older widepatch, but same error with new Version of patch. I also installed AoE2 + Conquerors ceompletely new and patched it, but same graphic bugs.)

Could the purple and red pixels be, because I have got Windows 7 Release Candidate ?
A mate used my installation of the game on his computer and he didnt have the graphic errors.
There was even a single time, when the game worked without the graphic errors.

Is Win7 Release Canidate at fault and it runs without errors on the Full version?

Got Win 7 here on as full version on dvd, but didnt install it yet, because the Release Candidate worked fine until now.

It's a Win7 problem, also retail won't help you. There are rumors that killing of explorer.exe before running the game helps, but I haven't been able to confirm this. personally, I haven'
t been able to get local lan networking to work in win7....

thx a lot boekabart.

This hint realy worked :)

If I shoot down the explorer before or even after starting the game, the colors ingame are normal :)

If I start the explorer again, before or after the game is started, the graphic errors are there again.

So the solution is simple: While playing AoE2-Conquerors HighRes just shoot the windows explorer down with the taskManager and let it be killed while playing Aoe2 and the graphic keeps nice :P

First of all, i want to thank boekabart!!! You are my new HERO!

Second, once i hopefully get this to work i would like to send you a few bucks to thank you for the time you have spent on this. After all, time is money.

Now i am running windows 7, 64bit, my monitors resolution can get to 1680x1050. I have followed your directions and it wont work. I must be doing something wrong somewhere. I am running a no-CD patch that might be messing things up. Tomorrow i am going to re-install everything and start from scratch and see if that helps. There was a fella that posted a little earlier that has a very similar problem. If you could help me out, well it would be much appreciated.

here are some screenshots to help you understand my problem.
This is the message i get after i click the "age2_x1 1680x1050" link or whatever

This is the message i get after trying to run the "AoE2Wide" link or whatever (i guess its a exe?)
http://img14.imageshack.us/i/errormessage1e.png/
And these are both screenshots of what my folders look like

THANKS SOOO MUCH and dont forget email me at [email protected] so you can send me an payment request invoice! :)

p.s. why hasn't MC made a complete update of the game so we dont have to do this shit anymore??? i guess you cant fix stupid......

@All: It seems my exe is an old, patched 1.0, not even 1.0c. I will port the DAT file to 1.0c or 1.0e as soon as possible!

@Cornettes:
The patcher won't work because you didn't put the DAT file in the age2_x1 folder, but a shortcut to it. That won't work. Make sure the DAT file is there.
Second of all, I don't see 'my' age2_x1.exe (the correct version that is supported now) in your folders. You can put it anywhere, make a folder WideScreen or so (within the aoe2 folder) so that it doesn't interfere with your normal exes. The patcher will find it.
Then run it, and I'm quite sure it will work. Why the prepatched version won't work, I don't know...

@ All: Of course, I'm more than happy to receive donations to support my work. PayPal: [email protected] !

Last but not least, I've installed XP which supports Stretching 2 monitors (7 doesn't, anymore), which allowed me to test this:

wOOt!!!
Vertical resolutions larger than 1536 are not supported yet because of the way the vertical stretching works, by the way!

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything. now the patch will run but when i open age of empires i still have black on both sides and it is not in 1680x1050.exe I must be doing something little wrong somewhere. Which .exe do i run? the 1680x1050.exe or the AoE2_x1.exe?

Boekebart. I and several of my friends will contribute funds as well :D

Were you able to address my post above about doing this for non-expansion pack AOE2?
