AMD Launches "Three For Free" Program & Reduces Prices on Radeon HD 7900
In what can only be categorized as a response to NVIDIA's successful launch of the GeForce GTX 680, AMD has dropped prices across much of the Radeon HD 7000 product stack. Additionally, it is bundling three free games with Radeon HD 7900 series cards. The Radeon HD 7970 gets $70 cut from its MSRP, and will now be available for $479. The Radeon HD7950 drops by $50, and now slots in at $399 (what AMD considers an "impulse buy").
With both cards, you will also receive copies of Codemasters' DiRT Showdown (an upcoming "action sports racing game"), THQ's Nexuiz (online, arena-based FPS), and the venerable Deus Ex: Human Revolution (including the DLC) from Square Enix. The Radeon HD 7770 Ghz Edition also receives a price cut. It falls from $159 to $139.
The Radeon HD 7900 cards are now in a more competitive position compared to the $499 NVIDIA GTX 680. Additionally, this move should also help the upcoming Radeon HD 7990 launch at more competitive pricing.
