Wonder why they skipped 12.5..?

I lost my tearing with 12.4 (yay), but they gave me BSODs and a few other shitty issues. (boo). I think I'llw ait for the next set, though.

The biggest thing is getting rid of tearing on setups with mixed outputs.

Haven’t tested them a lot, but so far no tearing. If they fixed that problem, that whole thread about (the Asus) cards having the same outputs as a solution to tearing is mute.

The reason they skipped 12.5 is this:

With the release of the AMD Catalyst™ 12.6 Beta driver (“Catalyst”), AMD would also like to announce that we are moving away from our Monthly Catalyst release plan. Our goal is to ensure that every Catalyst release delivers a substantial benefit to our end users; as we have today with the release of the Catalyst 12.6a Beta. We will still continue with the Catalyst naming convention; Catalyst: Year.Month. You just won’t see a new driver every single month. We are confident that this will only benefit the end user; you’ll only need to upgrade to a new Catalyst driver, when it makes sense.

We would also like to announce the introduction of our new AMD Issue Reporting Form. We made a number of improvements to the older Catalyst Crew Feedback form, making it more comprehensive, ensuring high quality feedback. Feedback is very important in every product company’s life, especially in our fast paced environment. This is not just a check-box for us – we take these reports very seriously. We will review every report posted here and investigate every issue encountered. Please use this form whenever you encounter something worth mentioning.

I am running the 12.6 beta and it fixed the tearing issues I was having on my third display. I have 2 with mini DP to DP and 1 DVI. Things seem good so far. Now if I could just get Diablo 3 to stop disconnecting. I am sick of having to play on my laptop.

They are moving from monthly releases to how nV updates, when stuff is needed.

I don't think they can keep on top of the schedule of 1 per month. And I also think that they are tired of breaking things too, I for one am SICK TO DEATH of having to hot plug my HDMI every time I want to use the TV (sound goes from TV to audio system, so need the HDMI to output to TV first).

Hopefully we will see less F*** ups from their driver team, with them being less rushed, and that performance for future games will be great from the get go, not like it was with BF3 and Rage.

I ended up spending 60 bucks to change my media PC GPU from AMD to Nvidia because of this issue. It's unacceptable.

I wouldn't care but it worked fine for so long, so why would they go and break it just for the sake of getting a driver out of the door on a specific date?

I have been a supporter of AMD stuff since I moved from my 6800GT AGP card, but I think it is about to change. Pretty sure if nV continue their GTX680 style of cards (faster and more efficient than AMD's) then I will be moving back to nV camp. I haven't had so many driver problems ever, since I moved to this HD5850.

Hopefully these problems will go away now we are looking at a less pressured driver release schedule.

Up until now, I thought that was just the way some games were, can't wait to try these when I get home.
